AN AMERICAN EDUCATION-WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

Higher education and the pursuit of happiness are considered central features of the American dream. But what are the real benefits of such a noble ideal? From what historic tradition of education comes this presumption? Why does college believe it is best equipped to teach a purpose for life? And what are the actual results a student gains with an American education in the 21st century? An American college education, its’ teaching styles, its top-heavy administrators, its powerless teachers, and the debt burden of its participants fails to prepare students for the real world and doesn’t teach students a sense of purpose in life. An American college education is not worth the time or expense. It must be re-thought and re-invented….
